Kavinga is our home in the wild — and we want it to feel like yours too. Here, you choose how to spend each day. Venture out on a thrilling game drive, explore the bush on foot with a guided walk, watch wildlife from one of our secluded hides, or just relax in camp and soak in the stunning views.
What can you expect to do during a day at Kavinga?
At Kavinga, we believe in creating a personal and flexible experience. Generally, no two days are the same — and that’s part of the magic.
Sunrise safari starts
For early risers heading out on a game drive or guided bush walk, your day begins at sunrise with fresh coffee, tea, and a light breakfast in our open lounge and dining area. The early morning is a magical time to explore the wilderness, with the chance to spot wildlife as the bush comes alive.
Prefer a slower pace?
If you’d rather stay in camp, take your time. Watch the sun rise over the Zambezi Escarpment from your private room, coffee in hand. When you’re ready, join us for a freshly cooked breakfast.
Mid-morning at the camp
Mid-mornings are perfect for relaxing in camp, catching up on your safari photos, reading a book, or chatting with fellow guests. Our wildlife hides offers close-up views of birds and animals that come to drink — perfect for photographers and nature lovers.
Lunch and leisure
After a delicious freshly cooked lunch, most guests choose to nap, cool off with a swim, or visit one of the hides. The peaceful rhythm of camp life allows you to connect with nature on your own terms.
Afternoon tea and into the evening
In the afternoon, we meet for tea and a delicious sweet treat.
After that, you can choose to head out for and evening game drive – with sundowners at one of our favourite spots. As night falls, look out for nocturnal wildlife on the drive back to camp.
Alternatively, you can choose to stay in camp and spend time in the hides, watching elephants and other game arrive at the waterhole in the evening light.
Into the night
At night, gather around the fire pit and then for dinner under the stars. Listen to the sounds of the bush and watch for elusive nocturnal visitors near camp – particularly at the bird hide.
Finally, when you’re ready to sleep, a guide will walk you to your room. There, sip a hot drink and watch the moon rise over the escarpment. It’s the perfect end to a perfect day in wild Zimbabwe.
