Immerse yourself in nature
Whether you’re seeking an adventure, a memorable photographic opportunity, or simply the chance to relax and enjoy nature, we’ll help you have a personal and unique safari experience. We offer a variety of activities for everyone. There’s always something to do at Kavinga.
Game viewing from the hides
Not in the mood for going out? No problem. Stay in camp and get up close to the wildlife in our purpose-built hides. Designed to keep you cool even during the hot summer months, our two well-camouflaged hides offer a spectacular (and safe) ‘elephant foot’ or ‘leopard eye’ view of animals and birds drinking at the waterholes.
It’s hard to forget the experience of watching a herd of 300 buffalo rushing into the water to quench their thirst, a family of elephants splashing and wallowing in the pan, or looking a lion in the eye as it has a late-evening drink.
Walking safari
There’s nothing quite as exhilarating as an early morning guided walk in the African bush. Safely accompanied by one of our professional guides, you’ll get a chance to listen to the dawn chorus, soak up the views, and potentially come across any four of the Big Five while on foot.
Game drives
Our early morning and sunset drives offer a great way to explore the diversity of our private concession, and with only a maximum of three game viewing vehicles out at any time, you’re guaranteed a good view at any wildlife sighting.
Birding
Mana Pools is home to a rich variety of bird species. Rarer sightings for keen birders at Kavinga have included the African Pitta, Egyptian Vulture, Western Yellow Wagtail and Basra Reed Warbler. We also have good colonies of the Southern Carmine Bee Eater, White Fronted Bee Eater, Little Bee Eater, Swallow Tailed Bee Eater and European Bee Eater.
Wildlife photography
There’s no shortage of photographic opportunities at Kavinga. Capture the sun rising over the Zambezi escarpment from the comfort of your room, take memorable images of fauna and flora while out on a game drive, or get breathtaking photos at the waterholes from the comfort of our hides.
Relaxing at camp
Situated on a cliff overlooking our pan and the dry Rukomechi riverbed, our camp is perfect for an armchair safari experience. Take the time to cool off in our pool as animals graze in front of you, read a book in our airy lounge area while birds soar above, or relax on your secluded room deck and soak up the views.
“Definitely one of the most amazing places I’ve stayed in Africa. Everything is perfect: rooms, team, food, and animals everywhere, especially because of the water points and the two hides in the camp. You can see animals very close!
Do not hesitate to go there, you won’t be disappointed!”
