As 2025 draws to a close, we’re taking a moment to celebrate all of you – our incredible guests – who helped make this year’s safari season truly unforgettable.
This post is dedicated to you: the photographers, explorers, storytellers, and wildlife enthusiasts who have perfectly captured the essence of Kavinga. Here’s just a small selection of the photos, videos, and stories you’ve shared during the year that help describe the magic of Kavinga Safari Camp in ways our words never could.
Thank you for your continued support and for sharing your adventures with us.
Leopards stealing the show at the bird hide
We always hoped the bird hide would be a special addition, but never imagined just how popular it would become – especially with the leopards! This year, it gave many of our guests breathtaking, up-close encounters. Being eye to eye with these magnificent cats is a privilege few forget. Poppy the leopard bringing her cub for a drink was certainly a highlight for those lucky enough to be in the hide at the time.
But it’s not just the leopards…
As the dry season set in, the bird hide became a lifeline for wildlife. Whole prides of lions, shy civets, thirsty elephants, curious hyenas, and hundreds of birds all came to drink. Each visit was unique and special in its own way.
The main hide – always full of life
The main hide and its new extension also continued to deliver unforgettable moments. From elephants walking inches away from us, scratching themselves on the structure and peering inside the hide, to huge herds of buffalo charging in to drink, and our resident fish eagle always on watch close by – the constant hustle and bustle of the waterhole during the dry season leaves most of us breathless.
Beauty beyond the hides
Of course, there’s so much more to Kavinga than our camp waterholes.
Step away from the hides to witness the beauty of the landscape in different parts of the concession: dry riverbeds, ancient trees, the escarpment rising dramatically in the distance, and landscapes that feel untouched by time.
And while you’re enjoying the views, there’s always a chance of seeing wildlife while you’re out and about exploring the concession.
Got a little extra time to watch a video?
A recent guest, Peter Van den Bulck, put together this beautiful video of his visit to Kavinga during the 2025 dry season. Sit back, relax, and let it transport you right into camp.
